Sneak Peak of Obsession and Sacrifice

"He took his fingers and pressed them against my lips, “Shh, don’t say you can’t.”
All of a sudden a sensation of feelings washed over me. I grasped his fingers. I gently caressed them in my hands and stoked my cheeks with his fingers. I closed my eyes, my nostrils delighted by the scent.
“You’ve done that before.” I felt a warmth come over me. “I remember, you’ve done that before. I remember the smell of your fingers.” I tilted my head to the side as if trying to visualize the scene, looking up at him. Releasing his hands, disappointed in myself, I mumbled, “That is all I remember.”
“That’s okay, you remembered something, that’s a start.” His face revealed the tiny dimples he wouldn’t admit to having. “You can do anything, Nicole. You have no business putting yourself down. You will remember in time. Now let’s get you walking!”
“Okay, I’ll try.”
“Alright! Remember you can do anything.” He let me steady myself on his forearms.
As he flexed his arms to hold me up, I noticed a muscle I had not noticed before. “What is this?”
“That’s my Brachioradialis muscle. It’s used to flex the forearm at the elbow.”
I traced down the side of his forearm “And this?”
“That is my extensor muscles. The extensors are responsible for elbow and wrist rotation.”
“And, and this one?” I asked about the smooth muscle next to the extensor muscle.
“That is my forearm flexor. Flexors are for wrist and grip strength.”
Then I ran my hand along the muscle on the bottom of his forearm. “Okay. And this one?”
“My wrist flexor.”
“You have four muscles in just your forearms? How come I only have one?”
“You have four, too.” He instructed.
“I’m pretty sure I just have one. Look.” I exhibited my forearms. There was no sign of any separation in muscle. They all just clumped together to form one muscle. I poked around at it. “I feel gyped. I’m telling you there’s only one.”
He couldn’t help but smile. “They’re in there. They are just hiding, I promise.”
“I think they look better on you.” I had never thought a forearm could be so sexy but his were appealing. I blushed a little bit. His provocative strength excited me and his beauty, it intimidated me. I still couldn’t believe he was my boyfriend.                                                             Another Scene

My lips parted, too shy to say how much I wanted it, but hoping he would try again.
The moisture in his eyes glistened with the light of the flame, but he quickly wiped it away.
“You’re alive,” he whispered, almost as if he didn’t believe it. “You’re alive.”
As he gazed at my lips, a tingle entered my stomach, replacing the annoying growl. He leaned in to kiss me, but I had no idea who this sexy stranger was and a kiss could open doors I wasn’t ready to enter, even though his lips looked so appetizing.
“Thank you so much.” I finally spoke.
“Anything for you, baby.” He continued to lean in slowly. My hand with all the crap hanging out of it, touched his face to stop him. The gentle fuzz tickled me. I sat for a moment and ran my hand gently over it enjoying the sensation as it pricked against my palm.
“I need to shave.” He put his hand on top of mine. Closing his eyes, he realized I wasn’t ready to enjoy his lips and kissed my hand instead…

…Our glasses clanged and the bubbles popped in my mouth as I took the sip. It tickled my tongue. I raised my glass for him to refill it and closed my eyes to feel it sizzle in my mouth again.
“Would you like some dessert?”
“Are you trying to make me fat?” I grinned as he reached back into the box.
“Close your eyes. Let me see if you can guess what it is.”
I closed my eyes and opened my lips. The cold spoon touched my tongue bringing a sweet creamy substance into my mouth. It had a tiny tartness and its decadent flavor burst as I let it sit there for a moment to identify it.
“I taste chocolate.” I grinned. “And a tinge of strawberry. Mmm and this creaminess. It’s not cold enough to be ice cream.” I swallowed. “Let me try another.” I opened my mouth again.
“I like it, that is graham cracker right?” I beamed. This was fun. “It’s cheesecake.” I opened my eyes as if I had solved an important mystery. “It’s cheesecake.”
“Good job!” He smiled at me. “So should I be concerned you remember cheesecake but do not remember my name?”
“We’re talking cheese cake, who can ever forget cheesecake?” A smile overtook my face as I pleaded with my eyes. “Can I have some more?” ~Obsession and Sacrifice by Tiffany Carmouche Release date February 11.

Nicole and Brad in Hospital after she wakes up from the coma.

“So what’s on the agenda tonight? Skiing? Mountain climbing?”
“You really are a jerk. I can’t even walk.”
“Okay so no marathon today. What do you want to do?”
“What do I like to do?”
“Well apparently you like to sleep. You did that forever. I should have known. When I met you, you were sleeping. I guess it was a sign.”
“And why did they let you in here? Just saying. Don’t you have some place you would rather be?”
“No, you are stuck with me. So are you hungry?”
“No, Dylan brought me in a really nice dinner.”
“Cards? We can play strip poker but I guess I would win since you just have on that gown.”
“Am I any good?”
“No, I’d have you out of that thing in no time. Vera might get mad.” ~Obsession and Sacrifice by Tiffany Carmouche Release date February 11.

                                                       Another Scene

The light danced off the snow and it sparkled almost like diamonds. I stood for a moment almost fascinated. And then it kissed me, my first snowflake, then another. The tiny cold droplets caressed my face, one at a time decorating my eyelashes. I giggled.
I closed my eyes and tilted my head back, leaning on the two of them, and I opened my mouth, letting the tiny cotton flakes melt onto my tongue. I opened my eyes and watched the white flakes descend on me. Learning back, I squinted. The porch light illuminated Brad and Dylan’s silhouettes as if they were angels--almost as if I were experiencing heaven. God sent them to me. These beautiful angels, who knew me by name and appeared in my life to protect me and make everything wonderful. Maybe I had died. Maybe this was heaven.  I stared up at their images looking down at me. “My angels.” I sighed.
